Those Scary Networking Events

Networking events can be scary. When I think of walking into a room of total strangers I always consider hanging out in the bathroom for the whole thing just to say I was there. What good would that do me??

What will we say? What should we say?

Learning to ask great questions and starting conversations with "strangers" can rocket boost your network marketing business. Genuinely be interested in learning about others and the conversation will naturally flow.

Here are some engaging questions to get people talking.

How did you get into your career? Let people tell their story and listen!

What do you enjoy most about your profession?

What advice do you have for anyone just getting started in your profession?

How does the economy affect your business?

What coming trends do you see?

What could I do to refer business your way?

Do you have a card so I can keep in touch?

These are just a few ideas of how to get the conversation started. Allow these questions to really fuel your following questions.

When your "new friend" finishes answering your question, the most likely thing that will happen is he or she will begin to ask you questions in return. Be ready with great answers that don't inundate this person with too much information, but rather create curiosity so they will want to ask more questions!

I suggest being the person to ask the final question with the person in which you are in conversation. Playing this little game with yourself will always ensure you are more focused on them then on your own personal agenda.

Above all, relax. It’s for the good of your business and you will develop some great skills along the way.

With gratitude,

Allison
